Bullying: Insight & Action

         学校如何评估与处理霸凌事件？除了校方，还有哪些社区资源可以提供支持？家长该如何介入与学校沟通？更重要的是，如何在心理上长期支持孩子，帮助他们建立边界与自信，避免陷入“被霸凌”或“参与霸凌”的循环？我们邀请到书屋的老朋友——西温警察局（WVPD）的 Jack Yee 警官，联袂西温教育局学务委员（WV School Board Trustee )Felicia Zhu 女士，通过真实案例与一线经验，带大家深入了解校园霸凌的复杂性、本地学校的处理流程与文化背景差异，帮助家长更有底气、更有方法地陪伴孩子，用理性、温柔而坚定的方式，共同守护他们在校园里的安全与快乐。

West Van High School Curriculum

        西温学区以优质教育著称。对小升中的家长来说，心里可能有不少疑问：让孩子和小学的朋友们一起就近进入对口的中学，还是再了解一下其他学校？每间公校的课程特色是什么？主要选项又有哪些？不同的选择对孩子的发展甚至以后读大学可能有什么影响？为了让家长们提前对中学有所了解，4921书屋特意从三间中学请来几位资深家长，分享各学校的课程设置、路径选项，以及自己孩子的成长经验，欢迎小学高年级的家长们来参加。 

West Vancouver is known for strong public schools. As students move from elementary to high school, parents often wonder which school to choose and how different programs may affect future pathways.

To help families understand their options, 4921 Book House has invited experienced parents from three local high schools to share program highlights and their children’s experiences. Parents of senior elementary students are welcome to join.

Stanford Freshman Meiting’s  Sharing

       2025年9月，从西温Rockridge中学毕业的“小镇青年”Meiting 步入位于美国加州的斯坦福大学，与来自64个不同国家的1800多位大一新生一起展开了令人向往的大学生活。11月了，又是一年紧张的大学申请季…… 为了回馈其热爱的西温社区，她特地利用美国感恩节假期回来探亲的宝贵时间，和大家分享：大学的申请历程和体会、高中学习对大学学习的影响以及个人管理能力（时间管理、健康管理、生活自理能力）的准备

In September 2025, Meiting—who graduated from Rockridge Secondary School in West Vancouver—started her freshman year at Stanford University, joining over 1,800 students from 64 countries.

Now, during her Thanksgiving break, she’s returning home to give back to her community. Meiting will share her university application journey, how high-school learning prepared her for Stanford, and the personal management skills—time management, health habits, and independent living—that helped her transition to college.

      艺术并不遥远，它往往就藏在日常生活的一处木纹、一道光影里。本期【藏家谈艺录】以“十全如意”为题，主讲人将带来自己收藏的十柄明清木雕如意。通过器物带来的触感、气息与温度，寻找其所带给自己的“共鸣”，分享与这些器物的缘分带来的感受与思考

      艺术并不仅仅是专家的世界，也是一种可以被每个人重新唤醒的感受力。

Art is never far away — it often hides in the grain of wood, in a fleeting play of light and shadow.This episode of Collectors’ Conversations is titled “Tenfold Harmony”, featuring a talk centered on ten carved wooden ruyi scepters from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Through the texture, scent, and warmth of these objects, the speaker explores the sense of resonance they evoke, sharing personal reflections on the connection between collector and object.

Art is not a world reserved only for experts — it is a sensibility that can be reawakened in everyone.

        金秋十月，我们热热闹闹、红红火火地组织了线上/线下两场活动 。 在大家的支持下，我们的活动取得了瞩目的成绩。社区图书，尤其是不远万里运至加国的各类优质的儿童中文阅读资源得以流通和共享。

In the golden October, we enthusiastically organized two online/offline events. With everyone's support, our activities achieved remarkable results. Community books, especially various high-quality Chinese reading resources for children transported from China to Canada, were able to circulate and be shared .

Congratulations to Felicia Zhu, the founder of the 4921 Reading Room, has won the West Vancouver Arts & Culture Award (2021)! This award recognizes individuals or groups who have made extraordinary contributions in the fields of literature, art, and the promotion of multiculturalism and cultural vitality.

        过去两年，我们为会员朋友们们组织了各种主题的读书会，好评如潮。也会收到父母们的反馈，可不可以安排一些给孩子的阅读活动呢？从小培养阅读兴趣——义不容辞！暑假伊始，集思广益，我们为小朋友们准备了一场丰富的读书活动！ 

We have organized various themed book clubs for our member friends, and have received great feedback. It is our duty to cultivate children's interest in reading from an early age! At the beginning of the summer vacation, we put our heads together and prepared a rich reading event for the kids.
